Alex d’Artois

TERAPEUTA Y ENTRENADORA

Born in rural Canada in 1987, Alex developed an early interest in psychology and human potential. After a period of mental illness in his youth, he established a daily meditation practice that allowed him to cultivate a natural resilience. Alongside studying jazz music at a conservatorium in Montréal, he practiced martial arts for a decade. He combined his creative and therapeutic interests by founding a project utilizing the drum circle environment to cultivate emotional expression and communication skills for individuals with developmental disorders.

Driven to investigate the psychological roots of mindfulness, Alex transitioned to Nepal to study Buddhism at a university based out of a Tibetan monastery. He lived there for 10 years, immersing himself in a classical Tibetan education. This decade deepened his experience that the Buddhist wisdom tradition holds a highly practical path to sanity—that its rich methods help us to recognize our inherent wholeness. His deep connection to the region inspired him to found Himalayan Hermitage, an organization which leads pilgrimage journeys throughout Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and Mongolia.

Following his time in the Himalayas, Alex pursued an education in Manuvision body therapy. Today, his bodywork integrates his meditation path, musical sensitivity, and martial arts training with his own journey through trauma and emotional wounds—viewing healing not as a final destination, but as an ongoing discovery of wisdom and compassion, where leaning into the process itself yields profound freedom from the wound. Alex’s treatments focus on developing nervous system resilience and regulation while releasing tension, stress, and emotional blockages.

“There is a profound strength in finally letting your guard down to meet your own life force. These treatments are an invitation to inhabit your body fully, turning towards your vulnerability to find the source of your most authentic power.”
